Claremont is one of the southern suburbs of Cape Town; only about 20 minutes drive from the city centre. You can reach both Cape Town CBD and the V&A Waterfront by train from Claremont and Main Road has a constant rush of local taxis to most major centres.
Claremont is perhaps best known for its shopping, and the malls – Cavendish Square and The Link - are vibrant hubs of activity. Most of the major shops are represented here as well as some exclusive boutiques.
Little Harfield village, across the railway line in Claremont, is popular with the younger set buying their first homes. It is a collection of former labourers’ homes and a picturesque area through which to drive and Arderne Gardens, on Main Road in Claremont, has one of the richest collections of exotic trees and shrubs.
Claremont is closest to False Bay’s beaches, generally regarded as warmer than the Atlantic Seaboard and is conveniently close to the Newlands Cricket/Rugby Stadium, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Newlands Forest and the Constantia Winelands.
