Craighall Park

Craighall Park's origins go back to 1902 when plots were offered for sale in the area. At that time Craighall Park was rumoured to have been a suburb that charged no service rates and people flocked to buy in the area. Craighall Park is one of Johannesburg's oldest suburbs and is situated in the western side of the city along the southern side of Jan Smuts Avenue. The suburb sits close to the Old Parktonian Sports Club and is also very handy for the River Club Golf Club and the Sandton Sports Club. Situated just a few blocks away is the Hyde Park Corner shopping mall.

Just to the West of Craighall Park runs the Braamfontein Spruit, home to several sports clubs, and here the visitor can walk alongside the spruit on a public footpath which takes you past old mine diggings and the Florence Bloom Bird Sanctuary, which is situated in Delta Park on the spruit. Over 200 species of birds have been witnessed here.
