The Johannesburg Planetarium is situated in Johannesburg, South Africa. The history of the planetarium started as far back as 1956. With the assistance of the manufacturers and many negotiations, the committee succeeded in buying the projector from the City Council of Hamburg. As part of the deal, the projector was dismantled and renovations and improvements on the instrument were started immediately. The Johannesburg City Council took over further negotiations and the projector was sold to the University of the Witwatersrand. This was used as a public amenity and for the students. In 1960 the planetarium was complete and it opened its doors to the public.
The planetarium is popular amongst locals, schools, universities and visitors from all around the world. There are many shows where you can enjoy watching the sky. The shows are enjoyed by the whole family of all ages. Be sure to book your tickets, you won't be disappointed.
