Welcome to our secluded self catering cottages which are set in 18 acres of unspoilt countryside in the heart of the arts and crafts route of the midlands meander. Built in 2004 these well equipped cottages overlook the Lions River and offer a peaceful and relaxing breakaway.
Facilities
We offer three one-bedroom cottages, each accommodating two people, and two two-bedroom cottages, each sleeping four. Each cottage bedrooms features a queen-size bed with an en-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi spa bath and separate shower for your comfort. The cottages are equipped with fully appointed kitchens, complete with a microwave, a two-plate gas stove in the one-bedroom cottages and a stove with oven in the two-bedroom cottages, a fridge-freezer, a toaster, and a Weber braai. Enjoy the cozy dining and lounge area, with a table and chairs on the balcony, and a private carport. For those chilly evenings, our cottages are fitted with a wood-burning fireplace in the lounge, electric blankets, and goose-down duvets on each bed. All utensils, crockery, and glasses are provided, along with fresh linen and towels. Stay connected with our complimentary Wi-Fi available in every cottage. We include a welcome pack including tea, coffee, sugar, milk and delicious home-made biscuits. Complimentary guest soap, bubble bath, conditioning shampoo as well as shower gel are added in the bathroom

We are located 13km.out of Nottingham Road on the Fort Nottingham road. We are 50km. From Howick and Howick Falls. Pietermaritziburg is 70km., Durban,150 km.and Johannesburg 450km.

The cottages run along side the Lions River with beautiful views and gentle riverside walks. The Midlands Meander arts and crafts route offers various local products and produce. You can bring your own bikes and ride in the scenic countryside. The local area abounds with thing to do and see including trout and bass fishing golfing the renowned Midmar mile at midmar dam . The historic battlefield route is 90 minutes away and the Drakensberg mountain range 1 hours drive. There are several local restaurants within a 15 min drive including Rawdons hotel and the well know Nottingham Road brewery.
Your hosts Jeff and Alice have lived in the area since 1992 when they opened Hawklee Country House and ran it until June 2008.
