Sydenham is a vibrant and diverse suburb in west Durban, between the fashionable Berea and the garden suburb of Sherwood. Perfectly positioned to reach most of Durban's attractions within minutes, Sydenham is one of the most convenient places to stay in the city. Durban's beaches, Suncoast Casino, uShaka Marine World and other tourist hotspots are a few kilometres from Sydenham. So are the M13, N2 and N3 freeways for those wishing to venture further afield in KwaZulu-Natal Province. Executives visiting the industrial and business hubs of Springfield Park and Umgeni Business Park will find them literally just down the road. A focal point of Sydenham is St Philomena's community centre, much favoured by NGOs and other organisations for conferences and functions. Churches, temples and mosques abound in Sydenham, reflecting the variety of communities who reside in the area. Although accommodation for visitors is limited in Sydenham, there are excellent fully serviced lodges available at more modest prices than one is likely to find in most other parts of Durban.
