Tweede Toll Picnic Site

This beautiful picnic site is in the heart of the Limietberg Nature Reserve, a 102 000 hectare reserve filled with mountains, wildlife and fynbos. It is situated at the original tollgate of the beautiful Bainskloof Pass, built between Wellington and Ceres in 1853 by Andrew Geddes Bain and a crew of 1000 convict labourers.
Day visitors to the picnic site need only pay the conservation fee and can enjoy the picnic area and the Witte River swimming holes (Toilets are available). Nude tanning or swimming is not acceptable anywhere in the picnic site or reserve. The Wolwekloof River swimming holes, Limietberg's hiking trails and the campsite are for the exclusive use of the Tweede Toll campers. The gate is open daily from 8am to 6pm. On Fridays it closes at 8pm.

Fire prevention
The Limietberg area has had some problems with fire over the last 10 years and today fire prevention is of top priority! Be cautious at all times, only start fires in designated braai (barbeque) areas and not in the reserve. Should you see any fires outside of the designated areas or see smoke, please report this imediately to the Reserve Manager on Tel: +27-82-4949707. Let us do our best to preserve this area and its natural inhabitants.

From Cape Town, take the Klapmuts/Wellington turn-off on the N1. Turn left and continue for 20km until you reach Wellington. At the third set of robots, turn left into Piet Retief Street, then right at the next set of robots into Church Street. This leads onto Bainskloof Pass heading towards Worcester. Tweede Tol is approximately 16km from the Bainskloof Pass sign outside Wellington, on the left. Take care as the road through the pass is narrow and potentially dangerous.
