Reebok

Reebok is a quiet little coastal village between Mossel Bay and George, tucked into the rolling hills and coastal countryside of the southern Cape. With its relaxed residential character, nearby beaches and views towards the Outeniqua Mountains, it offers a peaceful alternative to the busier holiday towns along the Garden Route.

The name Reebok is derived from the Afrikaans word for ‘grey rhebok’, a graceful antelope once found widely across the Cape's hills and mountain slopes. The name reflects the area's natural heritage and the wildlife that historically inhabited the surrounding landscape.

The village is close to the Indian Ocean, with nearby beaches providing opportunities for swimming, fishing, walking and enjoying spectacular sunsets. The coastline between Reebok and Great Brak River is particularly attractive, with rocky sections and sandy coves creating a varied landscape for coastal exploration.

The nearby Great Brak River estuary is another worthwhile destination. Its calm waters and surrounding wetlands provide opportunities for canoeing, fishing, boating and birdwatching. The river also has a long history of supporting farming and fishing communities in the area.

Nature lovers can explore the fynbos-covered hills and coastal vegetation surrounding Reebok, while the Outeniqua Mountains provide a dramatic inland backdrop. During winter and spring, southern right whales can sometimes be seen from the coastline as they visit the sheltered waters of the southern Cape to calve.

Reebok lies in the Garden Route region, close to Great Brak River, Glentana and the larger towns of Mossel Bay and George. Its position makes it convenient for exploring both the coast and the mountain landscapes, while remaining pleasantly removed from the busiest tourist centres.

For travellers, Reebok is best appreciated for its tranquillity and natural setting. It is a place for long coastal walks, quiet beach days and enjoying the changing light over the mountains and ocean, making it a charming stop for anyone seeking the slower side of the Garden Route.
