Tucked into the historic heart of Mossel Bay, Cape Saint Blaize Artisanal Distillery is one of the Garden Route’s most distinctive craft spirit destinations. The distillery draws inspiration from the extraordinary landscapes surrounding Mossel Bay. Its spirits are crafted using carefully selected botanicals sourced from the region’s rugged coastline, mountain plateaus and indigenous fynbos terrain. The result is a collection of gins that capture the flavour and aroma of the Cape Floral Kingdom in every sip. Traditional copper pot stills are used during production, while many elements of the bottling process remain proudly hands-on, from labelling to finishing touches.
One of the most fascinating aspects of the distillery is its deep connection to local history. The name “Saint Blaize” dates back to 1488, when Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias arrived in Mossel Bay and named the area Aguada de São Brás. The distillery embraces this heritage through its branding and storytelling, while the iconic nearby Cape St Blaize Lighthouse also inspired the striking bottle design.
