Maanhaarrand is in the North West Province and if translated is, 'maned ridge'. This is an important archaeological area with findings of prehistoric rock engravings.

Attractions:
The Sterkfontein Caves are thought to have been formed 20 to 30 million years ago. There are guided tours every hour where you will get to see spectacular caves of hanging stalactites and stalagmites which form an unbelievable sight not to be missed. The Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve is a beautiful reserve where you will get to see a variety of large game such as lion, buffalo, rhino, wild dogs and hippo. There are guided tours in open 4x4 vehicles available and also on horse back. The whole family will enjoy a trip to the Ngwenya Gallery where you will watch in amazement as recycled glass is carefully and artistically blown into spectacular art pieces. There is a restaurant and childrens area available at Ngwenya Gallery.

Climate:
Maanhaarrand enjoys a moderate climate with warm to hot summer months with most rainfall in the evenings and cool to cold winter months with temperatures dropping in the evenings.
