Klein Slangkop

Klein Slangkop is an exclusive coastal neighbourhood in Kommetjie, on the Atlantic side of the Cape Peninsula in the City of Cape Town. Nestled between pristine beaches and the rugged slopes of Table Mountain National Park, the area is renowned for its peaceful atmosphere, spectacular sea views and unspoilt natural surroundings. It offers visitors a quiet escape where dramatic coastal scenery and abundant wildlife create an unforgettable Cape experience.

One of the area's most recognisable landmarks is the historic Slangkop Lighthouse, the tallest cast-iron lighthouse in South Africa. Visitors can often climb the lighthouse on designated open days to enjoy panoramic views across the Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Peninsula. Long Beach, stretching along Kommetjie’s shoreline, is popular for surfing, horse riding, beach walks and watching spectacular sunsets. The surrounding fynbos-covered hills are home to scenic hiking and cycling routes within Table Mountain National Park, where birdlife and indigenous flora flourish throughout the year.

Although Klein Slangkop is a modern residential enclave, it forms part of Kommetjie’s rich maritime heritage, a village long associated with fishing, shipwrecks and lighthouse keepers. Today, it combines luxury coastal living with easy access to beaches, nature reserves and some of the Cape Peninsula’s most breathtaking landscapes.
