Cape Homemakers Expo

The Cape Homemakers Expo 2011 took place from 01 September 2011 to 04 September 2011 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre and hosted a vast array of inspiring home improvement ideas, all under one roof. As usual the expo included over three hundred trend setting stands and exciting feature areas.

2011 show highlights included various decor and accessories, which were presented for the third year and showcased the latest cutting edge style in contemporary decor trends. 2011 was also be the 6th annual showing of The Future of Design, which showcased the latest in Upcycling with some of South Africas leading designers leading the way. Upcycling is the process of converting waste or useless materials into new products of better quality or higher environmental value. Upcycling finds a new purpose for your unwanted items before you chuck them away.

There was also the new project called ClockArt, where artists, including fine artists, designers, ceramicists, fashion designers and mosaic artists were invited to create a wall clock. The clocks were displayed for the duration of the Expo, and visitors were invited to bid on their favourite piece. All funds raised were donated to Habitat for Humanity, a community development organisation which builds homes for the previously disadvantaged.

The DIY Workshop feature area was a huge success and industry experts were on hand to demonstrate, build, modify, repair, and revamp just about anything which related to home improvement.

The Audiovision Sound Emporium was once again a major highlight of the Cape Homemakers Expo and offered visitors a substantial range of the most advanced, new generation digital home entertainment, sound distribution and digital imaging products. Some of the products on display included Smart TVs, 3DTV, a Full HD Master Audio Theatre, 3 other dedicated listening studios, high technology smartphone applications and entertainment distribution, hi-fi and TV supports and brackets as well as a full range of digital imaging and printing solutions. Products were displayed by some of the biggest names in the industry including Boston, Geneva Audio, Harman/Kardon, JBL, KEF, Mission, NAD, Rotel, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, Yamaha and Vogels.
