Up The Creek
No body says it better than Up the Creek themselves: One river, three stages, four days, loads of music and comedy. Wow, what an awesome way to spend a weekend, Good friends, good spot, good music! Up the Creek is held during the summer months every year on the banks of the Breede River in Swellendam. Top musicians and bands from around the country converge on this town not only to play music and perform but also to be uplifted by the spirit of the South African fans as they revel in this amazing playground. With music playing as you enjoy the fun and games in the river, or just walking around the food vendors, coffee maestros, stalls and bars, the stages are set up to ensure that none of the acts will be missed. Only one stage is performed on at any particular time, so your day can be planned to ensure maximum pleasure. The stages are set up as follows, the main stage, the river stage and the all-night-long bar stage, and the three stages run throughout the weekend. At the 2011 festival there are act like, Karen Zoid, Elvis Blue, Akkedis, Jack Parrow and many more.
Apart from the music and general excitement Up the Creek also have an annual contest called, Pimp your Lilo. Lobster lilos, Indian canoes, floating bars and human tube chains, even two sailors in a bathtub, what will float down the Breede River next. The contest encourages participants to think outside of their beach gear boxes, with stages including the best design and most floatable contraption to the most luxurious device on the Breede River. The usually still and peaceful waters of the Breede River are stirred up with contestants as they sing, shout, cheer and laugh during this memorable event.

Turn right at the Felix Unit / Infanta turnoff, approximately 8km before Swellendam
Turn Left at the Napkysmond turnoff, approximately 2.1km from the N2
Continue along the Napkysmond road for 13.1km
Turn left at the sign to Up the Creek
