The guest house in St Lucia has a modern, open-plan design flowing from the rooms, through the lounge, and on into the outdoor entertainment area where true South African style breakfasts are served. 

Dinners or traditional braais (or barbeques) can be arranged upon request. St Lucia boasts a variety of restaurants, all in walking distance from the b & b. The elegantly furnished, en-suite, air-conditioned rooms are equipped with all of the necessary amenities to ensure your stay in a luxurious one. Our family rooms each sleep 4 people and are equipped with full bathrooms, showers and corner baths. All our non-smoking rooms open onto the garden area which leads to a sparkling swimming pool, which is especially refreshing after an enjoyable day exploring the African bush. 


Step inside our accommodation in St Lucia wetlands and find the interior of our rooms are uniquely and individually styled in warm African earthy tones which come to life throughout the house. Our elegantly furnished air-conditioned rooms are equipped with all the necessary amenities and a stocked mini-bar fridge to ensure your holiday in St Lucia is a comfortable one.

Our en suite double room has a queen bed, and is complete with a shower and a bath.
Our twin rooms have two single beds each and both have en suite bathrooms with only showers.

Holiday accommodation in St Lucia for the whole family is possible with the two family rooms come with queen and single or bunker beds, accommodates four (4) people each and have full bathrooms, showers and corner baths.

All rooms have a private patio to sit and relax when on vacation while overlooking the Saint Lucia wetlands.

The town is known as the gateway to iSimangaliso, the Greater St. Lucia Wetlands Park, which offers pristine beaches,whale watching, turtle tours, pro folic bird life, snorkeling, game-viewing, fishing, walking trails, cycling, night safari, sunset safari, horse riding, Zulu cultural tours and boat cruises on the 85 km estuarine lake, which is filled with an estimated 1200 hippos and just over 800 crocodiles. St Lucia is also in close proximity to the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve so it's easy for you to get to view the Big Five (5), up close and personal.

• Regulate our food shopping, buying from subsistence suppliers (local communities) wherever possible.
• Use shopping boxes which can be reused, instead of plastic bags.
• Cook on gas and not charcoal or wood campfires, on all our game drives.
• Run energy saving lights through the whole lodge.
• Ensure we leave picnic sites clean and un-littered.
• Always carry out non biodegradable waste, to be deposited responsibly where it can be collected.
• Encourage passengers to buy drinks in returnable bottles.
• Donate used vehicle parts and oil to recycling centers and local community chief for local use.
• Run our routes as efficiently as possible to minimize unnecessary fuel.
• The tour guides gives regular talks and information regarding the significance of the culture, religion, health and concerned Bertus and myself, Juliet, began our first guesthouse in 2001. We joined the tourism industry, twelve (12)years ago and the last eight (8) of those have been running and maintaining guesthouses.  Our latest project is Rhino Coast Guesthouse which we opened in 2007.

St. Lucia was first known as "The River of the Sand of Gold", a name given to it by the early Portuguese explorers because of it's golden beaches, sun, and sea.  It is in these peaceful, yet magnificent surroundings that Rhino Coast Guest House is nestled.

Rhino Coast Guest House is only five (5) minutes walk from St. Lucia's main street where you will find the restaurants, shops and the lake. Rhino Coast is only twenty (20) minutes walk from the beach.

Everything in and around St. Lucia is within a safe walking distance.  St. Lucia is a World Heritage site and boasts the highest coastal sand dune at Mapelane.

Fishing Trips - Daily deep sea fishing trips are available. The fish you catch is for you to keep.

Night Drives - Explore the nocturnal life of the world famous Eastern Shores Park. See anything from Hippo's, Antelopes, Owls to the notorious Leopard.

Game Drives - Explore the nearby Hluhluwe / Nature Reserve. These tours are specialized for Big Five game viewing. Half day and full day packages are available. Tours are conducted in an open game view vehicle.

Kayaking - One of the most adventurous activities in St Lucia. Kayak with the Hippo's and Crocodiles on the lake. Not for the faint at heart.

Turtle Tours - Watch the ocean's gentle giants making their way up the coast to lay their eggs. SEASONAL FROM NOVEMBER TO MARCH

Guided Walking Trail - Combination walking trail and crocodile center. Price will include entrance fee into the crocodile center, guided walk and guided tour of the Crocodile Park.

Bush Baby Safari - One and a half hour Bush Baby Safari in St Lucia

Sunset Safari - A three hours tour to view nature's beautiful sunset. Included wine, beer, coffee.

Horse Riding Tours - Beach and game rides. Combination of both tours also available.

Ocean Marine Mammal Tour - Ocean adventure with dolphins and other mammals' "Wet and Wild". Two hour trip to setting out the jolly Rube, see the second highest vegetated dunes "Mapelane" in the world, see marine mammals etc. sharks, dolphins, turtles, fish and more.

Personal Guide (ON AVAILABILITY) - Get your own personal guide to go with you to the game parks. The guide will give you all the info you need on animals, plants, birds and more.

Bicycle Tour - Guided three hour tour to explore St. Lucia by bicycles. Mineral water included.

Bird Watching Trails - Guided bird watching walking trail, three to four hour walking. Also spot a wide variety of birds.

Special Zulu Classes - Rhino Coast offer special Zulu classes at no cost for it's clients, these classes are only 45 min, and will teach you the basic zulu greetings, counting up to 10 and also give you the opportunity to learn more about the Zulu tradition, these classes are done at Rhino Coast house.
