Montagu

Known as the gateway to the Little Karoo, Montagu is a historic town just 2 hours drive from Cape Town on Route 62. Montagu is one of the best preserved late Victorian agricultural villages in the Cape and is a wine producing village on the Little Karoo wine route.

If that isnt enough of an invitation, Montagu is also known as the "mountain mecca" of the Cape and lies nestled between the Keisie and Kingna Rivers. Her lack of pollution makes for beautiful night skies and Montagu has incredible rock formations, fruit orchards, vineyards and healing hot mineral springs as her other attractions.

Lovers Walk in Montagu, which was painstakingly reconstructed after a flood in 1981, is a charming walk that passes through beautiful cliffs to the springs. The Nature Garden, founded in 1954, offers complete peace and relaxation to those on a break from the city and other attractions include mountain biking, climbing, kloofing, fishing and boat trips on the Breede River.
