Oude Molen Village

Oude Molen Village is a unique community and heritage precinct situated near Pinelands and Observatory in Cape Town, centred around the historic Oude Molen farmstead. Set on the banks of the Black River, this former colonial farm has been transformed into a creative village where sustainability, small businesses and social initiatives come together in a distinctive urban setting.

The area’s history dates back to the early 18th century, when the original windmill and farm buildings formed part of Cape Town’s agricultural landscape. Today, the precinct retains much of its rustic charm, with restored heritage structures housing artisan enterprises, cafés, wellness practitioners and community projects. Visitors can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere while exploring local crafts, food and cultural activities.

Nature lovers will appreciate the village’s proximity to the Two Rivers Urban Park, where wetlands, waterways and open spaces support birdlife and provide opportunities for walking and cycling. The nearby Black River and Liesbeek River corridors are important ecological areas within the city.

Oude Molen Village offers a refreshing alternative to conventional urban attractions, combining Cape Town’s heritage, creativity and environmental awareness in a peaceful riverside setting.
