Springbok Vasbyt

Springbok Vasbyt

Not just a race but a run through history. The Springbok Vasbyt is a hilly road running race, with some off-road sections on gravel roads and MTB tracks. Runners efforts are rewarded by spectacular views of landmarks including; Schanskop Monument from the top of which you can see the entire city and around the walls of the Voortrekker Monument. Medals will be awarded to all finishers, as well as prizes for category and lucky draw winners. The race is divided into 3 different distances, the 25km, 10km and 5km. The 10km and 25km races set off at 07:30 and the 5km at 7:40 from the Voortrekker Monument Picnic grounds. There is a 4 hour cut off time which is adequate, even for walkers. The 10km and 25km race terrain is not suitable for baby strollers or wheelchairs, but the 5km Fun Run does not include any off-tar sections so baby strollers and wheelchairs are welcome. Unfortunately no animals or vuvuzelas are allowed. The Springbok Vasbyt is an adventure and a challenge. Please be prepared to run/walk more than half of this race on gravel roads and on very challenging mountain tracks. The race has distance markers every kilometre, with water tables with water sachets and Coke approximately every 3km. Organisers have asked participants PLEASE DO NOT LITTER, discard of water sachets at the designated bins or keep your sachets until the next refreshment station.

All athletes will have the opportunity to run around the Monument itself, inside the wagon walls.
