Lake St Bernard is a 68 hectare lake on a privately owned farm that is home to many species of buck and wildlife. Come and stay at one of our 3 beautiful Lake Side cottages. This is the perfect spot to spend with family & friends, unwinding in a truly spectacular environment.

Fishing:
We call ourselves big fish country, this Lake has only recently been available to the public as a fishing spot and being catch and release we are able to maintain the fish holding. The water was previously named Ferndale dam by farmers/fisherman in the area. We regularly stock with 8 inch and 1 kg trout and with the catch and release policy our fishermen continually catch big trout. The biggest fish caught in our waters are 13lbs, many 7, 8, lbs fish are caught.

Rainbow Trout is one of our luxury self-catering cottages and sleeps 7.

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms:
The main bedroom has a super king size bed with a single bed and an on suite bathroom.
The two spare bedrooms have two single beds and share a bathroom.

It has an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge which leads out onto an undercover braai and spectacular view of Lake St.Bernard and St.Bernards Peak!!

The jetty on the front side of the cottage is great for fishing. It also makes a great platform to jump into the dam for a swim.

Each cottage has their own paddle boat ????‍?? for fishing ???? and for adventuring on the dam. A great place to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets.

Also known as Reedbuck Rest

Reedbuck Rest is our only thatch cottage and is popular for its homey, rustic and warm feel.

It has two bedrooms and one bathroom.
The main bedroom is on the main floor and has a queen bed.
There are stairs that go up to a loft bedroom which has a queen bed and three single beds.

Open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge.
There is a Weber and a braai outside.

The cottage has a spectacular view of Lake St.Bernard and St.Bernards Peak!!

It has its own paddle boat for fishing and for adventuring on the dam. A great place to enjoy sunrises and sunsets

Known as Crowned Crane

Crowned Crane Cottage has the same layout as cottage 1, its self-catering and sleeps 7.

It is a popular cottage for having a great view of the game camp and incredible birdlife.
It has a spectacular view of Lake St.Bernard, St.Bernards Peak and surrounding mountains.

  • There are no shops in the area, family, value for money meals can be enjoyed at the local hotel.

Directions
  • Take the Southern Drakensberg/Underberg turn, off the N3 just north of Cedara.

  • Proceed towards Underberg on the R617.

  • Pass through Underberg head towards Swartberg.

  • 10km before Swartberg on the right take the St Bernard's peak turn off D609.

  • Follow on this gravel road 24km to Lake St Bernard.
