Slabberts

Slabberts is a small rural settlement in the eastern Free State, surrounded by expansive grasslands, cultivated fields and the open horizons of the Highveld. Rather than offering a concentration of conventional attractions, it appeals to travellers interested in quiet countryside, farming landscapes and the unhurried rhythm of rural South African life.

The area forms part of the province’s productive agricultural belt, where livestock and grain farming have shaped both the economy and appearance of the countryside. Travelling around Slabberts provides an opportunity to see working farms, grazing animals, farm dams and broad stretches of veld, with seasonal changes creating striking variations in colour and scenery.
