Kewtown

Kewtown is a compact residential suburb near Athlone in the City of Cape Town, offering visitors a convenient location from which to explore the culturally rich southern suburbs. Well connected to neighbouring communities such as Crawford, Lansdowne and Rondebosch East, Kewtown provides easy access to both Cape Town’s city centre and the attractions of the southern peninsula. Its welcoming atmosphere and central position make it a practical stop for travellers interested in experiencing everyday life in one of the city’s diverse neighbourhoods.

The suburb lies close to several popular attractions. The historic Athlone Stadium has long been an important venue for football and community events, while nearby Crawford and Claremont offer excellent shopping, cafés and restaurants. A short drive leads to the renowned Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, celebrated for its magnificent indigenous plant collections and spectacular mountain backdrop. Visitors can also continue to the Constantia Wine Route, where historic estates combine award-winning wines with centuries of Cape heritage.

Kewtown forms part of the wider Athlone area, which expanded significantly during the 20th century and reflects Cape Town’s complex social history. Today, the suburb offers a convenient gateway to the city’s cultural diversity, historic landmarks and some of the Western Cape’s most celebrated natural attractions.
