Karasburg is a town which is located in the Karas Province of Namibia. It is located in the southern parts of the country and has a total population of approximately 5 000 residents. The city is located 710 km south of Windhoek and 110 km west of the border Ariamsvlei. Karasburg is also known as Kalkfontein or Kalkfontein South. Although the town is considered to be the main centre for Namibian sheep farming, the area has a large amount wildlife roaming it such as kudu, springbok, zebra, caracal and jackal. Although it is relatively small, the business community of Karasburg is very successful thanks to tourist interest and the wildlife. Visitors to the town will find products, stalls, souvenirs, shops and great restaurants in the area to suit their every need. The town is also known for its extreme weather conditions where some days are as hot as 40 degrees Celsius.
The town of Karasburg offers many activities and attractions. Things to do in the area are mostly of a historical or natural nature. Some of these activities include the Bondels Dam, Fishing, Hiking and Biking Trails, and the Karasburg Museum.
