The Hantam Vleisfees is an annual event which is held in Calvinia in the Northern Cape. The festival is held on the last weekend in August each year and the small but beautiful town comes alive with festivities. This year the festival will run over two days from the 24th August 2012 and 25th August 2012.
The first Vleisfees was held in 1990 and has grown bigger and better with each year. This year Hantam will be celebrating the 24th festival which will surely be one of the biggest and most festive yet.

It is a popular event and visitors and locals support it well, enjoying the festive atmosphere. There will be a music concert and street party with the popular Miss Vleisfees competition. The festival will have a farm animal expo, lots of farm products for sale such as fresh milk, butter and cheese. There will be lots of delicious foods from braais, stews and potjies to mention only a few. The whole family will enjoy the festival so mark these dates on your calendar and be sure not to miss out. The children will also enjoy a day full of fun and excitement with paintball, face painting and so much more to keep them entertained.
