Die Burger MTB Challenge will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year in Stellenbosch and is expected to hit the record number of 5 000 riders! The event has previously been held on a Saturday, but this year it will take place on Sunday, 2nd August and there will be a trail run on the Saturday.
This event is held in association with the Simonsberg Conservancy. It offers six scenic mountain bike routes, which cater for all levels of riding. This is one of South Africa’s largest one day mountain bike events and it is renowned for the breathtaking scenery through the Winelands – riders pass through more than 50 farms in the area.
Riders have the option to participate in the 50km route which leads to the south-eastern part of this scenic Boland town. This route will be an extension of the popular 30km route and although it is only 8km longer than the 42km it is a much easier route! Riders should not be fooled by the distances.
