Magersfontein Battlefield and Museum

Magersfontein Battlefield and Museum
The Magersfontein Battlefield and Museum is situated in Kimberley, South Africa. It is approximately 31km on the Modderrivier Road just past the airport.
This is where General P.A. Cronje and his troops defeated the English forces. Lt General Lord Methuen had planned to attack at Magersfontein. The Boers drove the English back and pinned them down. Eventually the British withdrew its troops.
The Museum holds many artefacts and an audio-visual presentation. The Boer trench comes alive and you can experience the battle with all the sights and sounds as if you were right in the middle of the war itself. There are many other displays to enjoy, like the uniforms worn by some of the leaders, fire arms used by British and Boer forces. The area also has a few memorials, honouring those who lost lives during the battle. This is an interesting visit for the whole family. A definite must see.
The Magersfontein Battlefield and Museum is open from Monday to Sunday from 08:00 to 17:00 and is closed on Christmas day and Good Friday.
