University of the Free State

The University of the Free State (UFS), located in Bloemfontein, South Africa, has a rich and dynamic history that spans over a century. Established in 1904 as Grey College School, the institution initially served as an extension of the school system, offering post-secondary education. In 1906, it became an independent institution named Grey University College, with the aim of providing higher education to the youth of the Orange River Colony, as the Free State was then known.
