Plum Cottage sleeps four persons and is the only private two bedroom,
Greyton. It has a fully fitted kitchen boasting a selection of fresh coffee beans (and grinder of course) and a modern gas stove. Both bathrooms have a beautiful and spacious Victorian bath perfect for country-style relaxation. All linen, towels, robes and slippers are supplied as well as basic consumables (firewood, tea, coffee etc). A braai (barbecue) is available. Plum Cottage is situated within metres of Greyton's famous Oak and Vigne coffee shop, which is also the social centre of town. Greyton:
Greyton had its beginnings on a large farm owned by the Cloete family called 'Weltevreden', which according to archives, was already occupied and being worked as early as 1795. In 1846 Herbert Vigne (whose descendants still live in the village) bought Weltevreden farm, and later decided to divide up the farm into plots. The first of which was offered for sale in 1854 naming the village after the Govenor of the Cape - Sir
George Grey.
Today, Greyton is a sleepy village nestled in the beautiful
Riviersonderend Mountains. Stroll the historic streets, shop for the unusual, enjoy the way of life and dine on the finest cuisine. Greyton is a year round destination for the whole family. Peace, tranquility and a care free lifestyle to be enjoyed.
The casino in
Caledon is only 20 minutes away. Whether it is gambling, fishing or horse back riding, Greyton is very centrally situated to all main centres of the Overberg area.
