Origin Electronic Music Festival

Tucked away between Villiersdorp and Greyton, situated 125 kilometres from Cape Town is a green pastured valley with a fresh mountain stream and a lush old forest filled with Oaks, YellowWoods and Redwoods and the Elandskloof Farm, home of the Origin Electronic Music Festival.
Origin is a company that has consistently pushed the level of South African outdoor music events by experimenting with various additions to the music festival environment, including hosting workshops, recycling initiatives, inclusion of alternate music floors and styles and much more behind the scenes antics. The Origin Electronic Music Festival is an Electronic Music and Arts Festival that is based on Conscious Party Ethics and always takes place in the breathtaking settings right at the tip of Africa. The festival features varying styles of electronic and world dance music, with top international guests and the cream of South African talent. Besides being an amazing party with multiple areas and dancefloors, Origin strives to bring consciousness back into the South African party scene while hoping to gently expose people to new ideas and positive lifestyle alternatives.

So join the party and stomp away in an enchanted oak forest to a soundtrack spun by some of the worlds hottest DJs, including D-Addiction and Luigi Madonnaat this three-day outdoor "jol" which promises to deliver the sickest beats in the most magical surroundings.

The Origin Festival has a strong history of recycling almost 99% of the waste generated at their events. They have an efficient recycling team on site who work through out the weekend. They even have recycled art work which features around the venue. All the care in the world is taken to leave the venue as they found it with the exception of a few peg holes and some missing grass patches due to your love of dancing and need to keep your feet hopping and stomping.

NB: This is an over 18 festival and anyone who fails to present a valid I.D or Drivers License at an outlet will not be sold a ticket.
If you are asked to present an I.D. or Drivers License at the gate after purchasing a ticket from an outlet and you fail to do so, you will not be allowed in and the ticket will not be refunded. Strictly NO UI8 .

Saying that though, children under the age of 12 get in for free but the event does not cater for them, so please ensure they are under your supervision at all times. They are only allowed in under their OWN parental supervision. Brothers, Aunts, Best Friends Mother, Neighbours do NOT count. Also ensure that babys, toddlers and young kids wear ear muffs as the loud music can be damaging to their ears.

The festival has shaded dance-floors, shaded camping sites, chill zones, 2 large Swimming Dams, Food stalls, Bars, Medical facilities, Strong and friendly security, a Craft and clothing market as well as clean toilets and showers.

It is a good idea to come properly prepared for the whole weekend and experience the full Origin effect. So make sure you take your camping stuff, tent, Sleeping Bag, Sun-block, Torch and Spare Batteries, Shade Cover, Money, a Sun-Hat, Swimming Costumes, Warm Clothing for the Evening, Cushions, throws or rugs, Insect Repellent, Silly Outfits for general amusement and anything else that might make your experience more comfy!

Directions:
Take the N2 past Somerset West over Sir Lowreys Pass.
Continue past Botrivier.
Turn left onto the R43 / Villiersdorp turnoff.
After 14km turn Right towards Helderstroom / Greyton.
Follow the road past Helderstroom prison (on your left).
The road becomes a gravel/dirt road.
Travel on the dirt road until you get to a Y junction.
At the Y Junction take the Left fork and immediately follow the road straight ahead.
Look for arrows and signs.

Keep it tidy folks. The ground is not an ashtray, and any piece of something that lands on the ground comes from somebodys hand, so pretty PLEASE let it not be YOU.
