Waterhoek is nestled in the heart of the Midlands 20km down river from the Mooi River village. The 6 kilometres of Waterhoek’s river frontage provides fishing all year round. Waterhoek has 2 cottages: Heron and Barn. Waterhoek Farm is ± 16km from Mooi River and Treverton School and 20km away from Weston Agricultural College. The road to the farm is a dirt district road and people driving in a car with ultra low profile wheels, should travel very slowly and carefully.
There is 1 rustic cottage, Heron . The cottage is fully equipped with fridge, stove, microwave and utensils. Duvets and one extra blanket are provided, please bring towels.
The chalet has its own braai area and fire wood is supplied. 450ha of peaceful surroundings with 5km of river frontage. Fly fishing in river and dams. Natural wildlife and bird watching.
Heron is the largest chalet with 4 rooms, two bath rooms and a central open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, stove, fridge and utensils. The layout is long and straight facing a pool in the river 50m below, each room having a river view.
The Heron is built out of river rock and thatch all off the farm. There is a fire place in the lounge and a braai area outside. Accommodation layout, 1 room with a double bed, 1 room with a double bed and single bed, 2 rooms with 2 single beds in each. There are 2 bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a bath. The kitchen dining area and lounge is open plan. The lounge has a large fireplace and a TV with a DSTV bouquet of Mnet, movies and the sports channels. Heron accommodates 9 people.
- There is golf at the Mooi River Country Club.
- Fish all year round, for yellow fish and small mouth bass in the river. Large mouth bassare caught in our dams year round.
- There are lovely walks along the river with plenty of birdlife and some wildlife.
- Weenen game reserve is about a 40 minute drive
- Midlands Meander Giants Castle - 1 hour drive
From the traffic circle in Mooi River Town, take the old Main Riad to Estcourt (R103), drive 5,6km. Turn right on the Middelrus gravel road (1300 meters). Turn right on D54. Drive 5,8km. Turn left at the Waterhoek sign-board (near small dam). Drive 4km on the farm road, over 4 cattle grids arriving at Waterhoek.
