Northam

Northam is situated approximately 50 km south of Thabazimbi. The town was proclaimed in 1946 by EHJ Fulls on a farm called Leeukoppie. The farm, and several other in the Northam area, belonged to H Herd, who bought these farms from british soldiers that took part in the Anglo-Boer war, and to whom these farms were allocated.

The Northam district is well known for its chrome and platinum mines. This is a malaria free area.

There are several game lodges in the Northam area. Activities include bow or rifle hunting, hiking, mountain biking, game and bird watching, clay pigeon shooting and quad bikes.

Facilities in the Northam area include air conditioning, fireplaces, onsite braai/barbeque, fully equipped kitchens, car hire, airport transfers, a conference venue, an outdoor pool, nature trails, medical facilities, onsite restaurant and satellite TV.

Guided 4x4 trails and day-trips are also available. A visit to closeby Sun City, the Pilanesberg Park, or the Marakele National Park, is well worth the effort.
