Koedoeskloof is the kind of remote Karoo locality that rewards travellers who enjoy getting away from the better-known routes. Koedoeskloof also provides a sense of the isolation that shaped generations of Karoo farmers and travellers. Distances are considerable, settlements are few, and the landscape can appear almost unchanged for kilometres at a time. After summer rain, however, the transformation can be remarkable, with ephemeral grasses and flowering plants briefly bringing colour to the otherwise subdued terrain.

For those travelling through the Hantam Karoo & Upper Karoo Region, Koedoeskloof is best approached as part of a wider journey rather than a destination requiring a packed itinerary. Its appeal lies in the silence, expansive scenery and opportunity to experience the authentic, sparsely populated character of the central Northern Cape.
