Johannesburg City Marathon
The Johannesburg City Marathon is an annual event which takes place in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Marathon takes runners on a meandering tour of the city's landmarks. It is professionally organised and well supported by locals and visitors from around the country. Over 3500 athletes are expected to participate. The 5km fun run entries will still be open on the race day. All participants will receive a T-shirt and a goodie bag. All 42.2km Marathon and 10km race finishers will receive medals.

The City Marathon will start in Emmarentia on Thomas Bowler Street, next to Roosevelt Park High School. There will be three categories to choose from, the 42.2km marathon, 10km race and the 5km fun run.

The 42.2km marathon will start promptly at 6:30am and runners must be 20 years old and older. The 10km race will start shortly after that, at 7:30am and is open to 15 year olds and older. The 5km fun run which also incorporates the school's challenge will start at 7:45am and participants must be 9years and older.

The Marathon will offer runners great sights along the way, landmarks and urban developments, Universities and the Westdene Dam to mention only a few. The race will bring runners back to Emmarentia Dam for the finish. The first half of the race is demanding with a steady climb and then a gentle slope alongside the racecourse and Gold Reef City.

There will be well known runners and is a qualifying race for the Comrades Marathon. Prize giving will be at 11am on the race day and results will be published on the Nedbank website as well as the ASA website.
