The Container House is a self catering establishment situated on the Vaal River outside Parys in the Free State.
The container house is constructed from 6 shipping containers and then cladded with insulated decorative cement panels.
When you rent the container house, you get exclusive use of the house and property.
The house has 5 large bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms, a large kitchen and huge centre entertainment area.
There are additional 3 rooms each with their own bathrooms. We can accommodate up to 40 people.
The facility can be used for functions such as bachelors, large family gatherings, conferences etc
Kitchen
There is a large kitchen. with 3 fridges, an ice maker, urn, kettle and toaster.
Cutlery for 20 people is provided as standard. We have cutlery for 70 people available.
Sufficient pots, pans etc are available to cater for groups of 20 people.
3 Potjie pots, 2 small and 1 large are available.
Tables and Chairs
There are 30 plastic chairs, a 5 seater lounge suite.
Tables are set up as required. Tables can be set up for groups of up to 40 people.
Fishing, Swimming and Boating
80m of River Front is available for fishing and water activities. Motor boats cannot be used as the River is too shallow.It is safe to swim in the river as it is relatively shallow.
There are a number of canoes with Oars which can be used. Life jackets are available. There are 8 big tubes which can be used on the River.
Fishing
The fishing in this area is very good.We encourage catch and release.
Braai facilities are available. There are 3 drum braais and a smaller flat braai.

Go through the Grassmere Toll Plaza. From the Toll Plaza, Travel 37.8km and take the turn off that says R53 Potchefstroom / R42 Vanderbylpark. (Do not take the first turn off to Vereeniging as this goes to Sasolburg)
You will see a Garage on the right side of the highway with 2 high green pillars with cars on top of them.
Turn left towards Vanderbylpark.
Travel 2km and turn right to Loch Vaal.
Travel 4.8km to a T Junction. Turn right.
Travel 1.5km and then turn left to Parys (R42).
Travel 6.5km (over Vaal River by the Barrage).
**Turn right to Vaal Eden.
Travel 9.8km to where the tar road ends. Turn left.
The road is now a gravel road. Travel 650m and turn right to Welbedacht farm. As you go down the farm road, where you see a sign keep right, you must go left.
Go through the gate. Close the gate after going through.
Follow the farm road for about 100m and turn to the left just before the pig sty. Follow the road for about 800m. Don’t turn right where the Electricity Pylon meets the road. Continue along the road for about 800mwhere you will see a sign Doncaster Drive. Turn right and follow the road through the lane of trees towards the River. You will see a number of large Shipping containers, a house,
and green water tank on top of a stand. You have arrived.

Take the R26 to Vereeniging. Continue along this road, through Sasolburg towards Parys. Look out for the sign to “Barrage†about 10km the other side of Parys. Turn right.
