Splashy Fen Cottage is a secluded thatched property on Splashy Fen Farm, home to the famous music festival.
If you’re looking for peace and solitude with spectacular views of the Drakensburg mountains, lovely spots for swimming and tubing and fantastic hiking and birding, this is the place!
The cottage sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms (2 rooms with double beds and 1 room with 2 single beds) plus an additional 4 people on a mezzanine which has 3 further single beds and a pull out mattress.
We are right next to the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park where fantastic hiking trails can be accessed.
Sani Pass is well worth a trip and there are a number of operators in Underberg and Himeville who will organise this for you.
There are several restaurants in the area as well cycling, horse riding trails and river adventure guides.
Guests have exclusive use of the property.
MAXIMUM 2 DOGS ALLOWED
Access to Splashy Fen Cottage is via a main road and farm track totalling approximately 20km in distance. Neither roads are tarred and can be in poor condition, especially after heavy rain. The cottage is accessible in a normal car, slowly and with care, but a high clearance vehicle is strongly advised at all times of year.
There is no wi-fi and phone reception at the cottage is poor, however there is good phone reception on parts of the track leading to the property.
Children must be supervised at all times because the property is close to a river and does not have a secure fence.
The mezzanine area in the living room is accessed by ladder and the wooden rails at the edge of the platform mean that small children need to be supervised at all times.
All pets must be controlled and not allowed to wander as we are surrounded by farms with livestock.
