Lesoba is situated in the eastern Free State between Fouriesburg,
350km from Johannesburg and 260km from Bloemfontein.
Lesoba offers a tranquil, revitalizing getaway, ideal for hikers as well as
nature and outdoor enthusiasts.
Accommodation consists of two self-catering sandstone chalets, situated next to
a dam with panoramic mountain views.
One chalet sleeps nine guests; it has two rooms, each furnished with a double
bed, one room furnished with a single bed and a loft with four single beds.
The second chalet sleeps 6; it has one room furnished with a double bed and a
loft with four single beds.
Both chalets have a fully equipped kitchen(kitchen has a two plate stove which is stored in
the cupboard), dining room and lounge, full bathroom and patio. Linen is provided and braai
facilities are available-please supply your own wood.
On site activities include three hiking trails, 14km, 10km and 6km respectively,
with panoramic views of Lesotho, the Caledon River and the Fouriesburg district.
Along the way you will come across the Queen Victoria rock formation, bushman
paintings and a Dinosaurus Femur embedded in rock. Lesoba also boasts Blesbuck,
rock rabbits, an array of bird species and magnificent stargazing at night.
For the adventurous there is a challenging 4x4 route (approximately three and a
half hours) and mountain bikes, motorbikes and quad bikes are welcome.
In addition Lesoba also offers fishing for children, swimming in the local dam
and the opportunity to learn about sheep farming as well as hand feeding lambs.
Lesoba is a convenient stopover for those en route to Lesotho for skiing and
sightseeing and is also ideal for Asparagus Festival goers (held in Fouriesburg
in September) as well as Cherry Festival goers (held in Ficksburg in November).
The picturesque town of Clarens renowned for its arts and craft shops and
exquisite restaurants are also within close proximity.
The region has a summer rainfall with pleasant cool, dry evenings and dry, cold
winters.
