seaside village and part of the Greater Hermanus in the Overberg District
"A Resting Place" is a lovely holiday home situated in a short cul-de-sac towards the lagoon in Onrus. Onrus is about 5 km from Hermanus, 120km from Cape Town and 100 km from Cape Town International Airport. The village has all the basic amenities like cafés, restaurants, chemist, butcher, laundries, gym facilities, dentist and doctors. Rheezicht Superette is just up the street.
Drive a short distance down Van Blommenstein Street or walk under the Milkwood trees towards the beach. Parking is provided. Families bring their picnic baskets and watch the children play in the tidal pool, while the others enjoy the sun and sea. A slipway is provided for the boat and canoe enthusiasts.
There are numerous coastal walks and the area is popular with cyclists. Visit the birdwatchers platform that juts out into Onrus lagoon or the salt water pans that attract water fowl. A farmers market is held every first Sunday of the month and a cultural festival called "Kalfie Fees" is held in August and the Whale Festival in September. Artists enjoy the peaceful village and there are three art galleries within easy walking distance from the home. The award winning wine farms in the Hemel en Aarde Valley, which lie between Onrus and Hermanus are not only known for wine tasting, but also for their restaurants.
Hermanus has all the modern amenities like shopping malls, banks, shops, a library, medical facilities, art galleries, antique- and interesting second hand shops. Experience the different restaurants which are dotted all over town. Hermanus is world renown for whale watching from the cliffs (June to October) Visit the Tourist Information Centre in Hermanus for things to do and see.
This holiday home is situated in a short cul-de-sac ending at the lagoon.
The living room includes a lovely family sized dining table and a television with DSTV and a DVD player. Gather around the fireplace with hot chocolate or a glass of wine in winter.
The fully equipped kitchen also has a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, stove and fridge/freezer.
Main bedroom has a queen size bed, two bedrooms with twin beds each and a fourth bedroom with a double and a single bed, sleeping 8.
Linen and bath towels are supplied. Bring your own beach towels. There is one full bathroom and a second bathroom with shower. The shower outside with warm and cold water is ideal for rinsing off the sea sand.
Enjoy a braai or picnic under the tree in the spacious back yard. The property is fully enclosed and children can run around and play in a secure area.
Parking is available for four cars.
