1 Milkwood is a secure executive home in the exclusive suburb of West Beach in the coastal town of Port Alfred. Situated in the heart of the Sunshine Coast in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It is offered for short term rental, and is ideal for family holidays, traveling project teams, or touring groups. A refreshing alternative to cramped hotel rooms and restrictive B&Bs. A home from home, it comfortably sleeps up to 8 guests. It has its own private garden with many of the protected Milkwood trees and the beautiful Clivias which flower early spring. The indigenous bird-life is prolific. It is in a prominent position and yet is secluded from neighbours.
It is ideally located for both summer or winter holidays. It is well situated on the ridge, affording magnificent 180 degree sea views from East Beach, through the Kowie mouth pier, to West Beach, Kelly's Beach, Flame Lily and beyond. In summer, it is only a 500 metres stroll to Kelly's Beach, a safe swimming beach with Blue Flag status. In winter it is cosy with sunlight streaming in for most of the day and it affords great whale watching opportunities from the comfort of the lounge, kitchen, dining area or any of the bedrooms. All four bedrooms have sea views and some have golf course views too. (For golf lovers, there is The Royal Port Alfred Golf Club course which was designed in the early 1900s by Dr WH Atherstone and is within walking distance from the house.)
The house has open plan living areas both upstairs and downstairs, with 4 bedrooms leading off on the wings. The accommodation offers an en-suite king-size bedroom downstairs, two queen-size bedrooms upstairs, one en-suite and the other shares a bathroom with a fourth bedroom with two single beds. All have plenty of cupboard space. The three bathrooms all have showers, baths and toilets and there are two separate guest toilets on each floor. Quality linen, towels and hospitality items are supplied. There is a double garage and parking bay for a third car. Free WiFi Internet and DSTV are provided.

All bedding, Linen and blankets supplied, bedside lamps, TV points and power adapters.
Complimentary toiletries. All bath sheets and hand towels supplied. Please supply your own beach towels.

Free Wireless WiFi Internet. There is also excellent cellular network coverage at the house.

1Milkwood is fully serviced between stays, and lightly serviced during your stay. Our friendly and very competant housekeeper will be available to you for any extra work you may require; washing, ironing, cooking etc for a negotiable hourly fee.

Our one week stay in Milkwood was absolutely fantastic. A phenomenal view, amazing space, lovely personnel, magnifique environment. What more would you want ? We sure recommend this magic place to all.
Thank you for the use of your home - it is really beautiful - I slept so well listening to the sound of the waves and the view was just spectacular. When you live here in the concrete jungle you appreciate the sea so much more. Veronica was also very pleasant and helpful. Thank you again and look forward staying at 1 Milkwood when we are next in PA - hopefully for a longer period though.
Directions from Port Elizabeth and East London
From Port Elizabeth: Take the N2 highway and follow the signs to
Grahamstown. After the split onto the N2 Grahamstown road (about 50km from Port
Elizabeth CBD), take the R72 to Port Alfred. It is about 100km from this point
to Port Alfred. A lovely stop on the way is at Nanaga Store, just where the R72
splits to Port Alfred. Drive through Alexandria, Bushman's River and
Kenton-on-Sea. Once you see the Rosehill Mall, you have reached Port Alfred.
Take a right at Atherstone Road (you will see the Vet on the corner). Continue
through two sets of 4-way stops, past the Royal Port Alfred Golf Course on your
right and St Andrew's Lodge on your left. The 2nd road left is Muirfield, take
that and bear left. Where Muirfield meets Milkwood, you will see the house
directly in front of you on the right.
From East London Airport: Take the R72 to Port Alfred (right at the
Airport exit, 130km from the airport), past Fish River and Kleinemonde. Continue
into Port Alfred, passing the R67 T-Junction (to Bathurst & Grahamastown) Drive
past the Marina and over the bridge. At the traffic light turn left into Wesley
Hill Street which becomes Muller Drive. Continue until you can see the sea and
then turn right into Gleneagles Drive. 2nd road left into Muirfield Avenue. Turn
the corner, over a bump and round another corner and bear left at the split in
the road. The house is immediately on your left.
