Senekal

Senekal is a town situated in the Free State province of South Africa. The town has two townships, OR Station and Matwabeng. Senekal is found between Winburg and Bethlehem which makes it convenient for visitors. Senekal is mostly a farming community which include wheat, maize, sunflower, milk and meat farming. These farms play a large part in the areas economy. The town is also home to the oldest historical church in the Free State.

Attractions:
One of the great attractions in this area is the Dutch Reformed Church which is a beautifully built sandstone building. It is situated in the centre of Senekal. When the church became too small, they replaced it with the church that stands there today. This old historical church is encircled by a wall of petrified tree trunks. This spectacular site is a wall made up of various tree species. It is a must see when visiting the area. There are many attractions in the area which include arts, crafts and quad biking trails to mention only a few. The Arizona Game Reserve is a great getaway for the whole family. There are many activities to offer from pedal boating, fishing, canoeing and waterskiing. The reserve also has a variety of buck, zebra and ostrich to be seen. There's a variety of hiking and biking trails at the reserve to choose from.

Climate:
The Free State enjoys warm to hot summer months with most rainfall during the summer months. The winters are sunny but cool and dry. The temperature drops considerably in the evenings.
