The settlement lies in an area traditionally associated with extensive livestock farming. After good rains, the transformation of the veld can be particularly striking, with grasses and flowering plants briefly adding colour to the landscape.

The area is also well suited to stargazing. With few settlements and little artificial light, clear nights reveal an extraordinary panorama of stars, making the journey through this remote part of the province especially memorable.

Neilersdrift forms part of the Kalahari & Diamond Fields Region, where rural farming country gradually gives way to the harsher landscapes of the Kalahari.
