Milnerton

Milnerton, a suburb of Cape Town just 10 minutes from the city, is built on the Milnerton lagoon, which forms part of the Rietvlei wetlands and is the only access to the sea for the entire wetland area. Milnerton is regarded as having one of the most beautiful and uninterrupted, except by trees, views of Cape Town and her mountains and sunsets over Table Bay are legendary. The Milnerton lighthouse was built in 1960 to help ships into Table Bay at night.

Milnerton's advantage is that it is a perfect gateway suburb and a superb base from which to explore Cape Town and the surrounds, particularly the winelands of Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschoek and Somerset West. There are safe beaches, excellent restaurants and bird watching from the Rietvlei bird hive is a must. The Milnerton 18-hole golf course is nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Rietvlei River. Canal Walk is close by for shoppaholics and the Killarney Racetrack, the oldest motor sport complex in the country, is also a stone's throw away.
