Established in 1846, Bloemhof is a well known, popular suburb in the North West of South Africa and lies on the banks of the Vaal River.

The Sandveld Nature Reserve is on the Orange Free State shoreline of the Bloemhof Dam where you will see a beautiful variety of aquatic birds and wildlife such as antelope, giraffe and wildebeest. The whole family will also enjoy the boating and fishing that is available on the dam. The Bloemhof Dam Nature Reserve is one of the most popular freshwater fishing destinations in South Africa and is very popular amongst the locals and holiday makers for its watersports, fishing competitions that take place annually and game viewing. There is also a picnic and braai area available so pack your lunch and come enjoy the day at the dam.

Climate:
Bloemnof generally enjoys mild to hot summer months with afternoon thundershowers and cool to cold winter months with temperatures dropping considerably in the evenings.
