Opuwo Airport

The small but growing town of Opuwo is the capital of the Kunene Region in north-western Namibia and lies 720 km north-northwest from the capital city of Windhoek. The town has a small airport called the Opuwo Airport which primarily handled private charter flights. However in 2012 the Namibian Government announced that it is to spend more than 35 million Namibian Dollars on the relocation of the Opuwo airstrip after the Ministry of Works and Transport conducted a feasibility study and found the current location was undesirable and unsuitable. To date there has been no further information regarding the airports relocation.
