Venetia Limpopo Nature Reserve
Set amidst rugged sandstone cliffs and ancient baobabs in the Limpopo valley, the 36 000 hectare De Beers Venetia Limpopo Nature Reserve is a piece of old Africa. The reserve lies only 80km from Musina in Limpopo Province, and is adjacent to and forms part of Mapungubwe National Park, the site of southern Africas first kingdom. Mapungubwe is a World Heritage Site, as well as being part of the Limpopo-Shashe Transfrontier Conservation Area.

Over 400 bird species can be found in Venetia and surrounding areas and a trained guide is available to help discover the regions specials, which include the elusive Pels Fishing Owl, the Three-banded courser, the Pennant-winged Nightjar, Meyers Parrot, Mevess Starling, the Senegal Coucal, the Thick-billed Cuckoo and the Tropical Boubou. But Venetia is more than just the birds, it is also well loved for its wildlife which includes lion, elephant, black and white rhino and elusive wild dogs. Radio tracking (telemetry) trips are offered for both wild dogs and lion, which substantially increases the chance of seeing these sought after species.

While visiting the reserve you can also enjoy sundowners overlooking the confluence of the Shashe and Limpopo rivers, bird watching accompanied by trained guides, game drives, guided walks to view Bushman paintings and archaeological sites, a 4x4 eco route, and radio tracking of wild dogs or lions.
