Apricot Picking is held at De Krans in the Western Cape in South Africa. During the apricot season, the De Krans Wine Cellar in Calitzdop opens its doors to visitors and offer them the opportunity to experience picking apricots on the farm for themselves. The farm is beautiful and has spectacular scenic views, it is a wonderful way for the whole family to spend a relaxing day. The apricots are delicious and sweet and the event is becoming more and more popular each year amongst locals and visitors from all around the country. The farm is open for picking from the 25th November to the 5th December 2011. It is open every day except for Sundays between 8am and 4pm. Containers for picking are on sale at the farm but you may take your own containers along. The apricots cost R3.50 per kg. The whole day is filled with an excitement yet the tranquil surroundings are relaxing with the views and smell of fruit in the air. Ther is much more to see and do, from wine tasting and on the 25th and 28th November and the 2nd and 5th December there will be a braai for visitors.
