Mount Rozier

Only 30 minutes drive from Cape Town International Airport lies a 20 hectare farm, nestled on the Schapenberg slopes overlooking Somerset West, Mount Rozier. The location of the farm is said to have commanding views, undulating topography, varied soil composition and an idyllic micro-climate which provides a natural amphitheatre, producing world class single vineyard wines.
.
The history of the farm can be traced back to its namesake, Annie Rozier, who was a local flower merchant who gathered wild flowers on the slopes of what was once Mytrle Grove and sold them in the thriving city of Cape Town.
.
In 2009 and 2010 sections of the farm (not the best part) were sold to neighbouring farms Highberry and Journeys End in order to finance a leisure upgrade to the farm which is said to include a state of the eco-friendly tasting room.
.
Although the farm is measured at 20 hectares, only 3 hectares are currently under vine and this Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard can be found on a South West facing slope which has amazing views. The vineyard can be easily located by a lone oak tree which stands proudly at its base.
.
Eco-friendly is an important term at Mount Rozier with the aim to go green with new developments, clearing land of alien plants and revitalising their part of Renosterveld. Mount Rozier is already part of the Schapenberg-Sir Lowrys Pass Conservancy and have made it a priority to gain BWI (Biodiversity and Wine Initiative) membership.

Although the farm is operational upgrades have put a hold on its leisure activities and the Tasting room is closed until further notice.
