Kgaswane Mountain Reserve

The Kgaswane Mountain Reserve is situated along the northern slopes of the Magaliesberg, just west of Rustenburg. The rocky mountain slopes are littered with curious giant quartzite boulders. A large valley that lies between two mountain ridges is the central focal point of the reserve.

The park boasts a large variety of wildlife, which can be best viewed by way of several excellent hiking trails. There are two overnight trails and two much shorter trails to choose from. (See below) . The reserve has been very successful in breeding sable.

Birders will enjoy viewing some of the reserve's 250 recorded species. Of special note is the breeding colony Cape vulture.
