SONG OF THE WHALES is right on its own stretch of beach, with a road not much circulated to the beach. During the holiday season there are a host of festivities taking place for the young and old on the main beach, in Margate 2km away. Margate and Manaba beach also offers excellent swimming and surfing, and has the sought after Blue Flag status. Uvongo the RED ROCK and LUCIEN BEACH offers various excellent rock and surf angling spots. If you are looking to go deep-sea fishing, scuba diving or just for boat pleasure trips, go along to Shelly Beach as boat launches are done from there.
When the Sardine run starts in June, the South Coast is where you want to be. It is an unforgettable experience to witness the activity that takes place with the sharks, dolphins and various game fish that follow. Perhaps the most exciting part of the sardine run is dolphin spotting, as thousands of common and bottlenose dolphins follow the shoals.
Let's not forget the whales, those gentle giants of the ocean, which frequent the waters this time of the year.
Riverbend Crocodile Farm is home to more than 200 Nile Crocodiles. Visitors can watch an awe-inspiring feeding frenzy every Sunday in the warmer months. Crocodile hatching demonstrations are a natural phenomenon also not to be missed.
