We had a fantastic stay at Serendipity in Ballots Bay. The view was fantastic, the facilities was splendid, from the heated Jacuzzi to the TV with lots of videos, a whole library of books, comfortable beds and spacious living. All the cutlery and crockery you might need, micro wave, coffee machine and fire place. They even supplied some wood.

The only negative is the daunting but paved road to the lodge (although any medium strong vehicle can handle it). Also there was no BBQ (built in or portable)for outside braaiing , only a Weber gas braai. Even with all the cutlery and cooking tools, there was no Braai-tongs for cooking.
The owner Jenny was very helpful and stayed in contact during our stay, to check if we are happy.

Very classy comfortable home and well fitted out, we will gladly go there again.

We spent 10 blissful days at this beautiful, executive home with endless ocean and mountain views. Whilst enjoying the jacuzzi overlooking the forested gorge, we had daily visits from the Loeries, Sunbirds and Cape white eyes. Driving up the winding road that leads to Serendipity, we saw a Spotted Eagle Owl and Porcupine!
This airy home is highly recommended – all 3 bedrooms upstairs, lead out onto a deck with exquisite views. Down below a fully fitted laundry, plus an extra bedroom, and en-suite shower. We enjoyed stunning evenings at the outdoor pizza area, and kettle braai’s on the deck. Home from home with a fully equipped kitchen, to prepare delicious meals. The study is lined with interesting books to read, board games and DVD’s too.
We found the perfect gem! This was our 4th holiday at Serendipity, and we look forward to our next retreat, to unwind and rejuvenate, taking walks along the trails and breathing in the fresh country air.

My husband and I honeymooned at Serendipity and it was the absolute perfect destination for the relaxation we sought. The road leading in is beautifully paved making the drive to the lodge easy and completely comfortable even in out little rental car.
The interior is so well appointed and comfortable. The owners have gone to all lengths to make sure you have everything you could possibly need for a lovely self-catering stay. The view from the lodge is unlike any other I have seen, absolutely picturesque.
The private beach is exquisite and peaceful with a stunning view up the gorge.
Both my husband and I are very eager to return and stay again!

We needed a place to stay as my daughter was playing hockey in George this past weekend and Let me tell you this lodge nestled up on the hill will not dissapoint, we arrived late on the friday night and were welcomed by the "General" he called himself who showed us the way to the cabin. The Cabin was so cosy and had eveything you need and more. The next morning apon opening the bedroom curtains(with a remote) we were in awe with the stunning view and Jacuzzi on the deck. The visit was very short so we did not get to explore much on the sunday before we left we discovered the outdoor pizza oven in a secret bushy location close to the cabin (cant wait to try it out on our next visit) and took a drive down to the private beach.
Love this Place would recommed staying here for at least a week! Thank you Jenny xx

On our first visit In 2018, we fell in love with Ballots Bay and returned in January to spend our Honeymoon at Serendipity! The home is beautiful and close to all amenities. Graham and I will definitely return to enjoy the beautiful walks, sunrise, birds and especially the privacy and peace.

We have just returned from a wonderful two nights' stay at Serendipity cottage in the Ballots Bay private nature reserve. Jenny and her family have created a wonderful space. The interior of the cottage has been luxuriously fitted with top end finishings and great attention to detail. The views from the cottage's hilltop position are simply amazing. As a bonus, we got to enjoy making pizzas in the outdoor woodfired pizza oven (the cottage also features a jacuzzi which we sadly didn't have time to enjoy). We gladly recommend this as a relaxing retreat for couples and families.

We visited the Serendipity Lodge with our 2 young children and loved both the location and the house. The house is very cosy and well equipped and has great views. It is set in a secure estate in the middle of nature but only 10 minutes away from the Garden Route Mall. I can highly recommend this home to anyone that would like to escape their busy life and spend some quality time with their family or friends.

Thanks again for giving us the opportunity to share your beautiful home away from home with us.
What an amazing place, so quiet and peaceful and waking up to that view in the morning...awesome.
If you drive a car as low as an Alfa 159 it would probably be best to make use of your other car, although it was fine as long as you are really careful, but well worth the effort.
We hope to be able to share it with the family sometime, but either way the wife and I will definitely be back again.

2nd time round.... the 1st visit in 2017 was "Stunning" this visit was even better with close friends. The home is equipped with with so many books, games,DVD,s that one feels so at ease which gets you to relax mode instantly, it is so peaceful and tranquil and very private, its like you in your own little world and time just stands still.
The view is breath- taking and we will be back.

So very special. Amazing views, peace & quiet, the best-furnished holiday house, with the best library! Hard, though, to tear your eyes from the view to read a book... Fabulous bird watching from the deck with morning coffee & rusks. Lovely walk down to the beach. Saw hardly a soul in our whole 3 days here. Incomparable. Highly recommended for any special occasion, as life is a special occasion.
Thank you.

Words cannot describe how incredibly beautiful the little cottage is. The incredible view, the ball and claw bath, the self-closing curtains, the gorgeous white embroidered linen... all these luxurious finishes made Serendipity Coastal Lodge a place to remember and gave us the 5 star experience. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to George! We were there for the George Motor Show so only spent three nights, however, we could easily have stayed another week! It was a truly relaxing, enjoyable stay. 5 star all the way!
