What a beautiful and peaceful spot.
My wife and I was looking for a place to escape from the bustle post wedding and we could not ask for a more wonderful place. Very neat and tidy, the cottage was more than acquitted for 2 however you can comfortably fit 2 couples in the downstairs rooms and a whole troop of kids upstairs in the loft.
The views from the stoep are stunning even though it rained for most of our stay. We never got a chance to go for walks around the farm or to fish in the dams, but we surely would have had the weather played along.
The one thing that makes this place a little treasure cove is the massive fireplace. Being huddled inside due to the rain we could not have asked for a better setting. Plenty of good dry wood was provided and the depth of the fireplace meant that I could doze off without worrying about dampening the fire.
The kitchen is small but well stocked, bathroom has a shower bath and there is a separate toilet.
Our hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, even came and fetched us halfway down the road on arrival.
I brought my hatchback, which might not be the best idea but it is doable. The issue comes in with rain, making the roads a bit more of an obstacle. But nothing that a tractor and bakkie couldn't pull us out of, once again thanks to our hosts.
If you are looking for a secluded spot to get away and relax, this is it. I highly recommend Gabrielhoek.
