Lugkasteel is situated on the peninsula of Yzerfontein (a small town within easy reach of Cape Town) where nature provides the entertainment.
Here you can enjoy the laid back West Coast lifestyle - watching the frolicking whales from the comfort of your armchair, or buck, francolins and guinea fowl visiting your garden. During spring nature explodes into a colourful display of exquisite veld flowers.
Endless unspoilt beaches provide excellent strolling opportunities, whilst the incessant spell of rolling waves also provide exceptional surfing condition (catering for the inexperienced, but providing a real challenge for the professional surfer at high tide).
If you love seafood, it is worthwhile to obtain the necessary permit to collect white and black mussels, crayfish, perlemoen and arikreukel. Alternatively, enjoy it at one of the restaurants. You may also like to visit the small harbour to enjoy the colouful scenery (and language) and the fish market where the day's catch is sold at ridiculously low prices.
End your day enjoying more than 180 degrees of the Atlantic ocean as the sun sets like a red ball directly in front of you.
