Kowie River Chalets
With a sublime climate, warm ocean and rich history, Port Alfred is a well-kept secret amongst hundreds of local and international visitors. Kowie River Chalets is located in a prime spot overlooking the ocean, close to all the attractions of this seaside town and equipped with all the necessities for a self-catering family holiday. The Royal Golf Course, small-boat harbour, marina, golden beaches and river attract many individuals looking for a relaxing break and many visitors descend on the town every holiday season.
The fully self-catering, open-plan apartments provide a home from home environment in which to enjoy your seaside holiday in total comfort. TV/DSTV is provided and the units are serviced daily. All units have three bedrooms and two bathrooms and can accommodate six people. Each chalet has a braai facility. Unfortunately no pets allowed.
3 Bedroom Chalet
All of the chalets at Kowie River Chalets have three bedrooms. The spacious main bedroom is upstairs, has its own balcony and sleeps two in a double bed. The second bedroom is also upstairs and has two single beds. The third bedroom is downstairs and also has two single beds. There are two bathrooms in each chalet. The upstairs bathroom has a bath, toilet and basin and the downstairs bathroom has a shower, toilet and basin.

The beaches and ocean in and around Jeffrey's Bay are some of South Africa's best and perfect for seaside activities such as sunbathing, romantic strolls, ball games, water sports and particularly surfing.
African Dawn Wildlife Sanctuary
African Dawn Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the heart of the valley between PE and Jeffrey's Bay and features spacious enclosures and open grounds perfect for picnicking and braaing.
Dolphin Beach Entertainment Centre
The Dolphin Beach Entertainment Centre has been Jeffrey's Bay's favourite Fun Park since 1985, featuring an 18 hole Mini-Golf Course, a playground and a heated water slide, ideal for the whole family.
Jeffreys Bay Surf Museum
The Jeffreys Bay Surf Museum pays tribute to the history of surfing and the many surfing pioneers and legends that have developed the sport over a span of several years, and showcases the evolution of the actual surfboard.
Bartholomeu Dias Maritime Museum
Step back in time at the Dias Museum which encompasses several interesting things to see including the Post Office Tree, Shell Museum and Aquarium, the Maritime Museum and five heritage sites on its grounds near the Mossel Bay beachfront.
The view from Bloukrans Bridge captures all the beauty and tranquillity of the Bloukrans River Valley and is also the site of the ‘highest bungee from a bridge’ in the world. Although nerve-wracking, the jump is a perfectly safe and thrilling experience.
Hire a canoe and travel up the Kowie River, which is navigable for 22km. The river is flanked by natural vegetation with many birds such as fish eagles, loeries, spoonbills, herons and kingfishers to be seen along the way.
Great Fish Point Lighthouse
Make your way to the mouth of the Great Fish River to admire the Great Fish Point lighthouse, which, at a height of only 9m, is one of South Africa’s smallest working lighthouses.
Cunny Kla Nie River Cruises offers sundowner, barbeque and private function barge cruises on the Kowie River for 2 or 3 hour excursions, please supply your own drinks, refreshments and snacks.
Kelly’s Beach has won various awards of excellence over the years and has Blue Flag status, which means it is recognized by international standards as a beach that offers excellent value to visitors, without harming the environment.
The Big Pineapple
Port Alfred’s iconic Big Pineapple stands 16.7m high and has 3 floors filled with pineapple goodies such as jams and chutneys, locally made pottery and puzzles as well as t-shirts and hats, tourist information and static displays of the Pineapple Story.

Kowie River Chalets is not suitable for access by wheelchair or for a person using a walking aid.

Coming from Cape Town, about 50km after Port Elizabeth turn left at Exit 797 onto the R72.
Turn left at the stop street approximately 500m further, opposite Nananga Methodist Church.
Turn right and travel for 50km to Alexandria.
Continue for 50km to Port Alfred. You are on Southwell Road and your landmark is the Caltex Garage on your left. Continue along the winding road until you reach the only set of traffic lights in Port Alfred.
Keep right and turn right into Wesley Hill then immediately left into Beach Road. Pass the Ferryman Hotel, take the first road to the right (Oriole Road) and the resort is about 300m further on the left.
From Port Elizabeth Airport head southwest toward 3 DELAAN. Exit the
roundabout onto 3 De Laan.
Turn right onto Heugh Road/M9. Continue to follow M9.
Turn left onto M4. (Signs for R75/Grahamstown/Uitenhage/City.Take exit 751B on the right to merge onto N2 toward Grahamstown.
Continue onto N10.Turn right onto R72. Turn right onto Wesley Hill.
Take the 1st left onto Beach Road. Continue onto West Beach Drive. Kowie River Chalets will be on the right.
