Kosi Forest Lodge
Situated in the wilderness, the lodge offers guests the unique opportunity of exploring a pristine wetland environment in guided canoes and vehicles.
Enjoy swimming at the pristine and isolated Bhanga Nek beach, boat cruises through the 18km lake system and estuarine waterways, birding walks through the ancient Raffia Forest and interaction with the local Thonga people and their historic culture.
Home to the Palm Nut Vulture and Pel's Fishing Owl, the area can be explored by keen birders at their leisure.
Kosi Forest Lodge guests are accommodated in thatched bedrooms, on raised wooden decks, hidden in the sand forest. All beds have mosquito nets. Our unique open-air, reed enclosed bathrooms with the bath and shower sunk into white forest sand has been noted by our guests as one of the highlights of a visit.
The last 9km are on dune roads and can only be accessed by 4x4 vehicle. Guests travelling in two wheel drive will be able to park their vehicles at the Total Service Station in KwaNgwanase and be transferred by lodge vehicle. There are two transfer times daily 12h00 and 16h00. The transfers have to be booked when confirming your reservation. The transfer time is approximately 25 minutes and there is no additional charge.

Proceed through Pongola towards the town of Mkuze on the N2. 10kms before Mkuze turn left to Jozini - as you leave Jozini proceed over the dam wall. After 45km at a T-junction turn right towards "Kwangwanase". Proceed for another 47km past Thembe Elephant Park towards KwaNgwanase (Manguzi).
*** Please note that the road from Jozini often has cattle wandering across it and so caution and slower driving speeds are encouraged. Also particularly around the area of Tembe Elephant Park, the road has quite a few potholes. We have been advised that currently there are also some roadworks along this route, which may cause delays. If you would prefer an alternate route, do not turn off at Jozini, but rather continue on further south on the N2 taking the Hluhluwe turn off instead and proceed as per below directions.
